Today we did a morning run to KY for eval vestibular Lillian. I must say, the doctor was fabulous. Very sweet and friendly. Apart from driving in front of the building three times, I finally made it there with a headache beating ... (Bc I hate being lost). It was an interesting assessment. We had some concerns about consistency of Lillian and sometimes seemed stunned. It seems linked to ear infections, which makes perfect sense. I discovered today, and I probably should have already done, since Lillian is delayed vestibular function also means it is also delayed. All the things children learn from birth built their facial movements. Since Lillian did not start walking until the age of two years, its capacity should be considered vestibular delayed by about two years. It was a light bulb moment for me. Seriously. She said many times, the therapist will work with a child at a level where the child should be without considering that she needs to go through all the steps it has failed to be developementally delayed. I'm probably not explaining this very well .... because it is 4, the therapy can be focused on what a child of four should be ... not necessarily what a 2 year old does. Make sense?Ironically, most of the activities we discourage children to do with Lillian too, are the very things she told me to start doing with her twice a day, if we can. How's that for MOTY? I could not get over it, because I thought about it. I mean, spinning and twirling. This activity builds his balance. Who knew? Walking or bouncing on a soft surface. (She sent us home with a big old piece of foam). Do you make these little activities that just seem to be fun, in fact exercises in the construction of the balance? I thought it was cool. Anyway, the best news, there is no labial "problem" per se.I could not give you the technical terms she uses, but Lillian was not anything that is broken ... its problems are largely behind. No ear or eye related. It's a good thing. We must return next month to further tests and a hearing eval. They get in new equipment specifically for pediatrics, they will evaluate it with others. I highly recommend this installation if you live in the South and need help. Heuser Hearing Institute. Nice, clean install nearly 65 years. In other news, I never said how much I love to watch run. Oh, what a blessing. In the car on the way down this morning, played Mandesi Klove is only the world, and all of a sudden I hear, "Wooo" and Lillian tossed his head and clapping to the beat of the music . It was great. The drive down and back was nice, it rained just as we were in the clinic and not while I was on the road. I am so grateful. I was afraid to go somewhere I've never been before, because I hate to lose. Once I went around the block twice, I called and nobody answered the phone, my stress level went very. s All ' is well past even though I feel so peaceful now.Reading this also reminded me of something my husband was taught in school PT. He said that children who have language delay must also crawling exercises every day. I guess the speech occurs when babies are crawling, so sometimes if they go back to crawl, the floor can be improved? Our second son had speech problems and my husband used to crawl around the room, even if he was 5! I thought he was crazy, but it is not working! :) Hugs!...
